Having Cake and eating it too.

Frankly, I don't know what to even say anymore about Pierre Lacroix. I think I've made my point a couple times. Pierre Lacroix seems to be perfectly content continuously undermining the people he hires. Despite the fact that Giguere and Granato probably both deserved to be fired, no one deserves a boss who undermines their credibility and ability to do their job.

Lacroix is doing that now. If Pierre wants a new coach he should fire Tony G and start interviewing people. If he's happy with Tony's job then he should stop courting his old buddy Roy. Pierre's trying to have his cake and eat it too.

It's very clear that Lacroix has the jonesing to be a GM again, but for whatever reason he doesn't want to throw himself back into the position, so he's dabbling in it. Of course he's already undermineded his first GM (probably more than once with the Granato hiring). He's in the process of underminding his current coach, and he's in the process of underminding his future GM, no matter which puppethead it turns out to be. He's trying to have his cake and eat it too.

Pierre Lacroix has tarnished his legacy forever, no matter what happens from here on out. His handling of this situation has been a straight up embarrassment. Francois Giguere will probably never get another GM gig again, and it's mostly Pierre Lacroix's fault. He has publiclly emasculated Tony Granato, to the point that no fan, or player, will be able to take him seriously next season (if he remains coach). I think Granato's a bad coach, but even if he had a chance of succeeding next season Lacroix has destroyed that with his semi-public courtship of Roy.

This is a flat out embarrassment. It's embarrassing, and humiliating, for Tony Granato, who has to watch all this in the news, powerless to do anything about it. It's already embarrassed Francois Giguere, who lost his job and severly retared his career by doing Lacroix's bidding. It's embarrassing a dwindling legion of Avalanche fans who have watched Carthage crumble as the bitterly hated rivals taunt us by having a well-run franchise. And most of all it's embarrassed Pierre Lacroix (whether he knows it or not). Once considered a General Managing mastermind, Lacroix has turned himself into Willy Loman, desperately grasping for bygone glory as the reality around him crumbles.

  1. at least we're not the wild..id take PL 'running' the fold over Dion fanboy.

  2. Good read right there...I 100% agree. TG should have been fired when FG went. CLEAN HOUSE

  3. Yeah, it could be worse, he could be interviewing Pierre McGuire for the job. Then you'd really be up Shits Creek.
