Last month of season will be fun

For all the bitching and moaning we did about all the NW games in November (which happened to bet he Avs best month) the last 4 weeks are shaping up rather nicely. Colorado will play against the Devils on Saturday and then only play NW division teams for the remainder of the season. Here's the NW standings, in parenthesis is how many times the Avs play each team down the stretch:

3. Calgary 82pts (2)
6. Colorado 82 pts (-)
7. Minnesota 81pts (3)
8. Vancouver 80 pts (2)

Just to make things more interesting Nashville and Phoenix are going to be chasing the NW team that plays the worst over the next 4 weeks. While we all blasted the current schedule earlier this season it looks great now, at least from a NW point of view, as the Avs battle for that 3 seed among their piers. This should create a playoff type atmosphere for the rest of the season, even against the Oilers (whom we get 3 times).

Other Notes:
Colorado beat Atl in the most boring 5-2 win ever. Congrats anyways to David Jones who had some great plays to create 2 goals early and was rewarded by the Captain and got his first ever NHL goal. The puck was immediately sent to Davey Jones Locker. (I can only assume he's never heard that joke before)

Foote was reinjured, sort of, last night. That's all I'm gonna say. I'm tired of talking about injuries.

  1. Jibble, this is the last 2 minutes of the 3rd period. This captures the game much better than the video. hopefully this link works.

    Here is the full link.

  3. Good thing none of the NW teams seem to like to hold a lead of more than 2 points, eh?

  4. I don't like the unbalanced schedule overall, but I LOVE the divisional games at the end of the season. I don't know that it made as much sense in November, but whatever.
